East Cork Community Referral news!

July 2020

We are delighted to announce the launch of a new walking group in Midleton. The Midleton Community Walking group was formed by East Cork Community Link Worker Niamh in July, just in time to kick of Corks 2020 Walking week. The group was launched at Midleton Family Resource Centre with support from Cork Link Workers Eithne (Mallow), Brian (Ballincollig) and Sinead (Togher). The idea behind the group is to get people to step out and  connect to the community and each other through walking. Sponsored by Healthy Ireland the group meets once a week for a fun and enjoyable walk, suitable for all fitness levels.

Getting support from others can help you stick to your walking routine so why not join up? New members are always welcome but due to number restrictions booking is essential. If you are interested in booking a space on the next walk or to simply find out more info, contact Link Worker Niamh on 0858625320.

March 2020

Early March, Community Link Worker Niamh was invited to a Community Food Initiative Safefood event to give a presentation on Social Prescribing. The presentation covered; Why Midleton FRC decided there was a need for the service in the area, an overview of social prescribing and our hopes on the postitive impact the Community Referral Project will have on East Cork. Well done to all involved.
