Neuro Functional
Overview

As part of the WellComm Active initiative we are working to support the development of new Neuro Functional Training Programmes for Cork.  The Neuro Functional Training Programme is a dedicated training area with a range of fully accessible equipment that provides easy access and opportunity for individuals with specific training needs.

The aim of the Neuro Functional space is to enable patients to exercise in a supervised setting. Physiotherapists aim to optimise exercise participation thereby enhancing long term self management, preventing secondary complications and supporting self care.

People with disabilities or medical conditions are able to exercise under the supervision of an exercise professional, implementing a prescribed program that has been developed in conjunction with a healthcare/medical professional. The benefits that the training programme can bring to an individual include valuable increases in quality of life, reduction of secondary complications, de-conditioning and falls, improved mobility, strength, balance and fitness, and also mental health and wellbeing.
