Social Prescribing for health and wellbeing available at Listowel Family Resource Centre. Welcome to everybody over the age of 18 linking you with sources of support within the community. Social Prescribing is about supporting the health and wellbeing of people through spending time linking a person into local groups and activities. Some of these options in the Listowel area include Park run, Walking groups, Active Retirement groups, Self help groups, Men’s shed, Women’s group, basic computers classes and many many more! The Social Prescriber will meet with you and spend time talking to you about what activities interest you, explore hobbies with you and the benefits of taking part in them, and will assist and support you attending your chosen activites. The Social Prescriber will meet you after a number of sessions to discuss how you are getting on and your interest in continuing your new activity.

The programme is for you if you feel that you need some support to mind your health and wellbeing or if you feel isolated, anxious, stressed, lonely, depressed or enjoy company with others. Using resources within the community will help you to benefit from meeting other people or taking part in a new activity. Social Prescribing provides you with opportunities to become involved in your community, meet new people, improve your Mental and Physical Health, Increase self-confidence and self-esteem, Receive Social support from others all while learning a new skill or participating in a new activity.
